How I Got Here!
Since I was in high school I spent years of my life trying to find the best way I could solo and improvise. I'd practice guitar for between 8-10 hours.day! I had some success, but it was never enough. I was obsessed with it. I’m sure you can relate to me.
I’ve spent literally hundreds of thousands of dollars on this pursuit. I took lessons with the best teachers I had access to, which it’s expensive. I bought one piece of gear after another for better tones, which it’s pricey. I even took a music program at university. I don’t need to mention how expensive that is, right?
But it wasn't only much later in life that I finally understood. Looking back at my own playing and watching other lead guitarists around me, it came to me. Out of all that knowledge I had, all the technique and scales and theory… there were only a few tools that I would use every single time I was playing guitar. Not only me, but my peers also. Either on stage, on studio, on a jam, you name it. These same tools came up again and again.
Over the last few years I’ve been working with my students, getting them the ability of becoming lead guitarists focusing on these tools, these skills alone. I decided to "skip" a few things teachers and the traditional way preached as fundamental and necessary, and got straight to the very practical and the actual fundamental things. And my students started to get amazing results in a really short time!
